THE SACRIFICE OF FOOLS

Ecclesiastes 5:1 “Watch your step whenever you visit God’s house and come more ready to listen than to offer the sacrifice of fools: for they know not that they do evil.

These days there are so many people who say “I made offerings in the house of God and even paid tiths many times but my life has never changed.” Then they start blaming the man of God who took their money and start calling them names like thieves, manipulators, etc.

The truth is, today many people are willing to give sacrifices in the house of the Lord, and even pay tithes simply because they told them that God will open the windows of heaven and cause blessings to flow over their lives. So it is more like a transaction.

So its like, we lend to God and He gives back to us in abundance. This kind of reasoning is wrong and against the scriptures. The bible is clear, if you want to lend to God, then give the money to the poor. ( Proverbs 19:17 whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and God repay him fully). So, Tiths, offerings and money lent to the poor all carry different purposes and different kinds of blessings.

In our opening verse above, the srcipture tells us that we should Go into the house of the Lord firstly with an intention to listen and understand what His word teaches, then we shall be able to know whether we are living right or we need to change certain things. Afterwards, we can go ahead and give the sacrifices, that will be pleasing to the Lord.

The man who goes with an intention to give and not pay attention to the word is described as a fool and his sacrifice as a sacrifice of a fool. Why? Because he has not listened to the word of the Lord which should help him. And for that reason, he will continue sinning without knowing that he sins.

Am not trying to say that Malachi 3:10 is wrong, all that is written there is true but it is only beneficial if the person making the payment takes time to also hear the word of God, because the word of God is what cleans us (John 15:3).

God has exalted his word above all things(Psalms 138:2), for that reason, if you want anything from God, first be willing to listen to his word.

Psalms 51:16 “For you do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it: You take no pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God , you will not despise.”

And Isaiah 1:11 ”I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls, lambs or goats”.

And Daniel 10:12-17 the angel said to Daniel, “Daniel don’t be afraid. God has heard your prayers ever since the first day you decided to humbled your self in order to gain understanding. I have come in answer to your prayer.”

So you should continue giving in the house of the Lord, not like fools do but with a heart to listen to the word and understant it and you will see the blessings and the abundance that is promised to you in the scriptures. Amen.

Confession
Now if you have never given your life to Jesus and you want Christ Jesus to enter into your life, just say these words loud “Lord jesus, today I accept and receive you into my life as my personal Lord and savior, Come into my life and make me born again. Amen”

Admonition
Proverbs 4: 20-22 “My beloved, attend to my words; incline your ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from your eye; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life unto those who find them, And health to all their flesh.

Prayer
Indeed you are holy oh Lord and you are the fountain of all holiness. For your word which proceed from you is also holy and they make me holy. I thank you for opening my eyes and beautifying my life again. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
